De Nora to hold ballast water masterclasses at SMM

Visit De Nora at booth A1-302, or email info.dnwt@denora.com, to register for 30-minute "How to be reliably compliant with Ballast Water Regulation" masterclass

De Nora, the world leader in electrochemical technologies, will be running expert masterclasses at SMM which will help ship owners and operators understand how to reliably comply with urgent ballast water regulations and legislation, particularly the fast approaching IMO Ballast Water Convention ratification. Attendees will need to pre-register for the masterclasses, which be held daily on Tuesday 6th September and Friday 9th September and twice daily on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th.

This is a challenging time for the shipping industry in terms of ballast water regulations and compliance. In a complicated and confusing business environment, ship owners and operators need to choose the right ballast water treatment system best suited to their fleet. With varying requirements across different routes and operating patterns, the ongoing US Coast Guard (USCG) type-approval process, challenges made to US Environmental Protection Agency VGP standards, and clarification required for on-board D2 testing, there are many variables for owners and operators to observe and consider. Designed to increase clarity and informed decision-making across the industry, during each masterclass De Nora will discuss all current and upcoming regulations, what is required of owners and operators and how reliable compliance can be ensured.

To provide essential industry insight to support owners and operators planning their compliance strategies De Nora’s masterclasses will offer a clear overview of:

  • The current compliance schedule
  • System selection
  • The impact of port water quality
  • Filtration
  • Neutralisation requirements and process
  • On-board testing
  • System maintenance

Limited to 12 registered attendees per session, masterclasses will be 30 minutes long and will conclude with an open Q&A session, giving attendees the opportunity to ask experts from the De Nora team any questions they may have. Masterclasses will be held on the following schedule:

  • 2pm on Tuesday 6th September
  • 11am on Wednesday 7th September
  • 2pm on Wednesday 7th September
  • 11am on Thursday 8th September
