De Nora, a leader in the electrochemistry and water treatment fields is proud to announce that its ClorTec® Brine Electrochlorination system has been awarded the drinking water certificate (i.e. “health and safety license in relation to water-related products”). In short, this means that De Nora has obtained approval from the Chinese authorities to carry out the sale and promotion of products for domestic drinking water which will considerably simplify and speed up operations in the Chinese market.
Since 2005, Chinese legislation  imposes the requirement of administrative approval for all products relating to health and safety of drinking water. Enterprises that produce domestically or import products related to hygiene and safety of drinking water should obtain health licenses of water-related products issued by health authorities.
The drinking water certificate, obtained for the ClorTec® Brine Electrochlorination systems, obviates the need to obtain further administrative approval and thus considerably speeds up the process of any sale. This fact, together with the acclaimed technological attributes of this product (low operation costs, accurate dosing and optimal disinfection results) means that ClorTec® Brine Electrochlorination systems are enjoying considerable popularity in the region in the context of new generation disinfection methods.
The preparation of sodium hypochlorite on site by electrolysis requires just three materials: water, salt and electricity. The disinfection principles of the sodium hypochlorite and chlorine are the same, but the preparation of sodium hypochlorite on site can be done at anytime on demand.
In terms of sustainable development, ClorTec® may reduce energy consumption by up to 48%, carbon emission and salt consumption by 20％, and has lower operation cost compared with competitors. System-specific operation processes and special anode coating formula reduce formation of disinfection byproducts and thus producing clean and safe drinking water. Furthermore, raw materials are easy to obtain and operation costs are relatively low (and lower than those of competitors).
It is worth noting that De Nora has obtained NSF certification previously. In the terms of drinking water treatment devices, the “standards for drinking water treatment devices” established by NSF are considered as have an established reputation for high standards in the industry monitoring and are used by many EU countries and Australia as a uniform examination standard. At the same time, NSF is also designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global food safety cooperation center, which shows emphasizing the importance of NSF in relation to drinking water treatment, someone calls NSF Grammy in the field of drinking water treatment standards.
De Nora is the first company to obtain the drinking water certificate thus becoming the first multinational enterprise to obtain both NSF certification and a drinking water certificate in the municipal water supply field.

 Order 412, issued in 2005 by State Council of the People’s Republic of China introduced health and safety legislation, which identifies all products (both produced nationally and imported) related to hygiene and safe drinking water) as being subject to administrative approval pursuant to the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of the Sanitation of Domestic Drinking Water and related regulations of the Ministry of Health. The drinking water certificate obviates the need to obtain administrative approval.
