Michelangelo Mantero

Born on August 4, 1968, in Como, he graduated in 1993 with a degree in monetary economics from the Luigi Bocconi Commercial University in Milan. From 1993 to 1995, he worked as a financial analyst at the investment bank Merrill Lynch in its New York office. From 1995, he held the position of financial controller, first at Edison and then at Asea Brown Boveri. In 1998, he worked as an associate in the investment banking department of Merrill Lynch in London and Milan until 2002, when he became a partner at Vestar Capital Partners, a U.S. private equity fund, where he developed his expertise by actively managing several private equity investments. In 2011, he worked as an independent consultant in the field of mergers and acquisitions. In 2013, he founded GenCap Advisory, a firm specializing in private equity advisory services for family offices and private investors, through which he structured several investment deals in club deals, focusing on innovative and knowledge-based B2B service companies. In 2020, as a founding partner, he raised the first private equity fund, Xenon Small Cap, from leading international institutional investors. In 2025, he raised Xenon Small Cap’s second fund, which, like the first, focuses on companies operating in KIBS (Knowledge Intensive Business Services). In addition to being a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of De Nora since 2012, he also serves as a non-executive director of the companies in which he has overseen private equity investments.
