Chlorine Dioxide Generators: Liquid Systems

The Capital Controls® L30 series generators use commercially available sodium chlorite 25-31% and hydrochloric acid 33% to produce chlorine dioxide via an inline submerged reactor providing maximum yield and safety, without requiring chlorine or sodium hypochlorite (bleach).

For generations, the Capital Controls® name has been synonymous with expert chlorine gas handling. The Capital Controls® all-liquid chlorine dioxide generators produce and consistently maintain a product yield greater than 95%, making it ideal for drinking water treatment. The two-chemical system is designed for use with commercially available 33% hydrochloric acid and 25-31% sodium chlorite without the use of chlorine gas or sodium hypochlorite (bleach).

The inline reactor design maintains the reaction zone submerged under water to prevent escape of chlorine dioxide gas to the atmosphere. Chlorine dioxide solution strength is controlled to less than 1 g/l.

The Capital Controls L30 features accurate precursor feed and control with digital dosing pumps and real-time PLC based controls, ensuring optimal quality of produced chlorine dioxide with a >95% yield.

Systems produce up to 1,500 lbs/day of chlorine dioxide from a single generator and higher capacities are available with multiple systems. The dilution water pump ensures the solution generated has a maximum concentration of 0.1% (1 g/l) chlorine dioxide.  A full line of MicroChem® analyzers are available to provide residual monitoring and control. 

Because it does not form TTHM or HAA disinfection byproducts (DBP), chlorine dioxide is ideal for pre-oxidation of surface water for drinking water applications. Chlorine dioxide oxidizes iron and manganese, is effective over a wide pH range, and does not react with ammonia. It is also used for desalinated (seawater reverse osmosis) applications to ensure stable disinfection residual in drinking water networks, particularly in warmer climates.
